Oh! I Get It! Music to A Teacher's Ears!

My students need a projector and document camera to enhance learning for all of our students; this projector will allow us to motivate and engage both visual and auditory learners.

My Students

Digital Natives--this is what the new generations are called! Students today are surrounded by animation, color, sounds, and other stimulating technological advances. We cannot ignore this fact. We, teachers, must keep up by creating motivating ways to teach!

Many of our students have learning disabilities and we really try to engage all learning modalities to help our students access the curriculum as best they can.

Our school is one that has a huge range of abilities. Twenty percent of the students in each classroom have identified special needs. This is a full inclusion school, meaning that all learners are in one classroom all day. Our model forces its teachers to teach to all learners using a wide variety of tools to reach all students.

My Project

Incorporating the daily use of a projector will help the curriculum come alive for our students. They will be able to see videos of relevant information, learn how to research on the computer as it is modeled for them, and will help clarify various language through the use of relevant pictures. The document camera will allow me to teach using real objects in front of the students, but will ensure that all students can see what I am showing no matter where they are seated in the classroom.

The use of a projector, document camera, and a few more headphones will allow my students to be more actively engaged in their learning.

Most people today are visual learners and simply do not learn by listening to someone speak. My students need to see and manipulate materials in order for my teaching to make the biggest impact. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
