Oh Baby Doll This Will Be a Great Year!

My Students

In September, I will be teaching Pre K in a NYC public school. I will be teaching 13 students and am in hopes of instilling a love of learning and exploring through learning centers and play. For many, this will be their first school experience and I hope to develop authentic learning centers that will provide them not only with excitement to come to their class each day, but with authentic learning opportunities.

Please help me to create the type of classroom that encourages learning through play and exploration.

My Project

When my project is funded, my students will use the baby dolls and the high chair to create a family and home life they can relate to. The dolls vary in ethnicities which will help the children to become more accepting of the differences and similarities in the world and people around them. The crinkle paper will be used for the hair for our self portraits. It may also be included in the art center to encourage creativity. The around the town blocks will be used in the block area. The students will be able to recreate their city and build using their imagination. These toys will help the students to interact, use expressive language and their imagination. It will provide me with so many teachable moments where we can recreate comfortable situations and build upon them. The dressing frames will help the children to learn how to zip, snap, and button. I am really looking forward to helping my new class learn to be tolerant, share and express themselves.
