Getting ready for the next school year, I want my students to have a classroom environment that sets them up for success. In first grade, a small group area is part of our daily routines and allows me to work with a few students to build on their learning, provide interventions and conference with students.
Whether we are working on literacy or math, we use a variety of tools to help my students learn.
Whiteboards are an essential tool that my students love to use. We will have the flexibility to write on the side that has handwriting lines, and when we are working on math, we can use the blank side to draw math pictures. Primary composition notebooks will be used during writing everyday. Students will be able to work on their writing and use their notebooks everyday to improve their writing.
Name tags for my students will provide them a visual aid for letters and numbers as well as the large visuals around the classroom. I find that it helps my students to be able to refer to their name tag for letter formation, and numbers. It is a great reference tool that they love!
