Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a new PreK program for children with special needs. They are curious and active kiddos who are ready to learn whenever they enter the classroom! Many of them are on the younger side, but that doesn't stop them from exploring their environment and letting the adults know what they want. They are always up for a challenge, and have enough energy to play from the second they enter the school to the second they get on the bus.

My Project

For many students with special needs, they have a combination of needs including sensory processing issues, and fine motor coordination issues which impact their daily participation in the classroom routines. These supplies will assist my students in self-regulation, improvements in attention, and practice in fine motor coordination skills. Improvements made in these skills will assist in their transition from home to the classroom setting and made their participation in daily routines that much easier. Many of the supplies listed in this project are core essentials for many occupational therapists in a more contained classroom. These supplies allow us to practice the skills our students need to function throughout the day.
