My students need measurement tools to observe, compare and weigh their observations during our matter and plant science units. These tools will encourage my students to learn through hands on observations and apply the scientific process.
My students are fun loving, eager to learn children with special needs ranging in grades from kindergarten through second grade. They attend a K-2 self-contained Special Ed. class in a public school in Queens.
My students are supported with hands on activities and are motivated by engaging projects such as participating in experiments and STEM projects.
They love to learn about animals, plants and the natural world.
Students often work in small groups to develop academic and social skills. They are learning to collaborate with their peers and share ideas and express themselves through learning experiences.
My Project
My super excited scientists will use these materials to observe and compare the world of matter by measuring solids, liquids and gases with actual science tools. The tools will support an engaging unit of matter and plant study.
Students will use the measurement tools to observe matter, solids (such as plants, insects and rocks), liquids (measuring and comparing viscosity) and gases (air and carbonation).
Student will also weigh and compare different properties of matter as they complete science projects and observations.
My students learn through hands on activities that are engaging and motivating. Microscopes and measuring tools will encourage their scientific minds and allow them to be critical thinkers through observing the natural world.
