My students need 5 traditional African drums to create an African Drumming ensemble
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Farrell's classroom raised $380
This project is fully funded
I am a special education teacher, teaching Drama. I work at a middle school, grades 6 - 8 and work with students who have emotional disabilities and autism. The school is a self contained special education school and is very high need. Most students come from impoverished backgrounds.
My students are very interested in creating music and authentic productions in drama class. The students love playing the drums. Most of the students are African American and one way to tie their heritage to their creativity is through an African Drumming ensemble. Our school currently has one African drum that the students love to use but we don't have enough to start a group. The students would love an opportunity to play.
I am asking for 5 African drums to start our drumming ensemble. The drums will give all students a chance to play and will help us create the group. It will give students the ability to use their creativity through discovering their heritage.
Your help will ensure that my students enjoy coming to school and are proud of who they are. This group will give many students the chance to showcase their talents and become a leader in their community and school. This is an opportunity for these students that will not stop in the classroom. We hope to form this group and go beyond our classroom showing people how talented and wonderful our students are.
