My Students
My students come from a high-poverty area. They face many challenges at home and in school. Many of them are lacking in basic school supplies. Most are low academically, but they come to school every day, ready and eager to learn.
I want my students to have the best third-grade experience possible.
Our school budget is very small, and I buy a lot of materials myself. I need some help to give my students what they need to be more successful in the classroom. I cannot control what my students experience outside of school, but, while they are in my classroom, I strive to provide them with everything I can to make them feel cared for and successful.
My Project
The majority of my incoming students have not been learning in person since the shutdown happened in 2020. As I welcome them back to a new year of learning, I want to give our classroom a makeover so it will be a fun and inviting place to learn.
I want my students to be excited to come to school everyday, and that starts with our learning environment.
I have chosen "Oceans" as our theme to correspond with our first reading and writing unit. Students will not only be learning about the sea everyday; they'll be immersed in it!
I am also requesting a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to help buy some new materials. Many students have missed so much school over the past two years and I want to have a lot of resources ready to help get them caught up.
