My students need various organizational items, such as file folder hanging pockets and consumable items (CD jewel cases) that will keep our classroom running smoothly.
Keeping any classroom organized is a challenge. Keeping a classroom organized when it is used by eight classes a day and forty classes a week is an uphill battle. Help our music class run smoothly by providing organizational tools, consumable supplies and additional instruments.
We need organization.
Every forty five minutes my students must pass out and put away the materials they use in as little time as possible so as to preserve actual class time. My students love to help manage the passing out of supplies and materials and they love to share their work with their teachers and families. When we have a school program, I have parents who can sing along because my students have diligently practiced their music every day.
As you can see, my students are eager and excited learners. However, my school is a Title 1 school where my the majority of my students are learning English as a second language while an even higher percentage receives free or reduced lunch or are considered "high risk" of dropping out of school. My school is working hard to combat the obstacles that if not overcome can prevent my students from succeeding. My students inspire me every day to do my best because they are exuberant in their love of learning.
My Project
I am requesting hanging folders to hold class sets of student magazines. These special folders will give the magazines the support they need to be easily and properly stored when not in use. I am requesting regular hanging files to help organize class sets of papers I've made. In an effort to be a better steward of school funds if I use worksheets I no longer recycle unused copies and save the original. Instead I'm saving ALL unused copies for next year which means that I have an abundance of papers that need filing.
One of the most important resources I am requesting are blank CDs and CD sleeves. For each student performance I create a "scratch" practice CD which is a critical part of the preparation for each performance.
I am asking for notebook sized CD organizer sleeves because the CDs that come with the student magazine's don't have jewel cases.
Finally, I am asking for two sets of "boomwhackers" so that when we use them in class there are enough to go around.
The items in this project are important because having the right tools to keep our classroom organized and running smoothly is a very simple way to ensure that the precious time we have together is spent in actual instruction and learning.
