Nutrition for Health Office

My Project

As a school nurse I want to create a safe and inviting health office. Having a warm environment as well as equipment to keep students safe and healthy are important and thankfully already covered. However, One of the biggest ways I plan to create that safe environment is ensure snacks are available to students who may have missed breakfast or need a little mid day pick me up.

As a school nurse I know ensuring adequate food intake is essential to the education process.

We as humans also bond over a meal. I am hoping by having available snack I will create an environment fosters trust, learning and most importantly safety. Middle school is a tough time and I want to be a school nurse that is truly there for every single student.

I also want to have a sucker or mint available to every student who needs medical attention throughout the day. Feeling sick especially at school isn't ideal but having something to boost the students mood will help. Outside of school, one of the best thing about going to the doctors office is getting a sticker or a treat at the end of the visit. I would like to replicate that feeling. The books will help students understand the role of nurses.
