My Students

When I asked my students what is one of their favorite things to do...I had more than 3/4 of them say that they love to read! Not only does it warm my heart but it also breaks it because they have such limited access to good books that are at their reading level in our classroom.

My students are bright lights in harsh neighborhood in South Los Angeles.

They come from families that have a hard time providing just basic needs so its no surprise that they have limited access to books. And because we are a brand new school with few books in our school library and no classroom library, I struggle to provide enough books for my 23 students to read.

My Project

My students love to read! Even during recess, they ask if they can take books outside to read instead of playing. Because we are a brand new school, we do not have a classroom library. That is why I am asking for your help to provide my students with new books to read instead of reading the few books I was able to buy. I choose the books that they love to get when we are able to go to our school library. With your help, they will able to have their favorite story characters in our classroom!

I am asking for your help to help me nurture my students' love of reading.

I love to see their eyes light up when they pick up a book that they are excited to read! I hope you can help make that happen!
