Nurturing Little Scientists/Science Matters

My Students

I teach the sweetest little first graders. They are all from military families. A lot of them have one or sometimes both parents on deployment. They have a true love of learning and I consider myself fortunate to be their teacher.

My kids are mostly from low-income families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast.

There is no other population of kids that I would rather teach. A lot of them need just a little bit more tender, loving care than perhaps other children do. Thanks for reading about my students.

My Project

More than ever we need to teach kids at a young age that science is real and knowledge is important. I am asking for these books so that my first graders can have high interest books in their library! I am trying to nurture lifelong readers/learners. I have requests from my students for dinosaur books. They are also interested in the nighttime sky. I feel the more books I can put in the kids hands the better. I also am asking for the blocks so the kids have hands on experiences with building!
