This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are inquisitive, bright, and enthusiastic learners. They are interested in learning and staying engaged during new lessons that are presented to them.

Our students are especially motivated to learn when they have engaging extracurricular activities.

Many families in our community are currently experiencing unemployment, evictions, COVID-19, and the loss of loved ones. Many students of our community live in small apartments or homes where they live with several families due to the high cost of living. Many families live below the poverty line and can not afford to buy basic school supplies, clothing, and some suffer from food insecurity.

My Project

These materials will help our middle school students to explore their creativity as they make fun jewelry during lunch and after school. I can already see our teens gathered working together to design their bracelets, necklaces, and other fun crafts out of beads. First, they will sketch out their designs on their sketchbooks, then they will plan the steps to assemble their creations using a variety of beautiful beads. As they get more experienced they will discover how to improve their jewelry. I can visualize students' self-esteem increasing as they show off their beautiful work. They will also make watercolor art. Both of these activities will nurture their social-emotional well-being.
