My students need a microphone stand with a clip and a portable music stand in order to hold the microphone they were given. One of our curriculum standards is to give class presentations.

My Students
Now hear this! My elementary gifted students are extremely excited about giving class presentations! They were given a microphone, but need a stand in order to effectively give their presentations.
My classroom services around 60 elementary gifted students from all over our city.
They come to my classroom one day each week. Time is of the essence when giving our presentations because what doesn't get done has to be moved to the next week. We have only a certain number of weeks in each unit. Each unit culminates with class presentations. The students are excited to be able to have the microphone held at the height that they choose and then to put their materials on the stand in order to be able to focus on their presentations.
My Project
One of our Performance Standards requires us to research projects as well as give classroom presentations. Public speaking is something that we practice each week. My students are in 2nd grade through the 5th grade and love to research facts and put these facts into projects.
With the completion of projects come opportunities to present not only the final product, but the process that each student went through to find the facts. The students enjoy educating each other as well as their parents when the parents come for the presentations. The microphone and music stands will assist each student in this process.
These are items which can be used each and every year at the gifted center.
If the students have multiple opportunities to practice public speaking when they are young, then they will be more at ease in speaking situations in the future.
