Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an awesome group of 2nd graders at a school that emphasizes becoming well-rounded global citizens. While we are diverse in many ways, as a whole, our school's population qualifies us as a Title I school. This means while we are very diverse we do have a large population of students who rely on assistance from resources like our free lunch program.

My class is full of curious, loving, energetic, creative and kind kids.

They love to ask questions, explore, create, investigate and learn. I strongly believe they will positively impact their world.

My Project

Books can be a teacher's greatest tool. This project is focused on the current need for students to see themselves in the literature that we use in the classroom.

Now more than ever, students need to see themselves represented in the books that we use.

I am requesting books that will help to highlight everyday heroes that come from all different types of backgrounds and places. My students will have access to books and stories that can broaden their understanding of people who have changed the world for the better. The art supplies will also help us to integrate art and reading as we learn about all different types of people and the impact they have on their communities and the world around them.
