This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in Huntington, New York, which is an extremely diverse community. We will be learning in-person this year and will be observing social distancing protocols.
The students in my class are mostly non-readers who are embarking on their first experience with full-time school.
Kindergarten is a time of great discovery and creativity for the children. It's a joy to watch them embark on this adventure!
My Project
The materials for this project include a CD player with MP3 capability, as well as a jackbox to provide for multiple student headsets. This equipment is designed to be used with a number of formats to allow for a variety of reading materials.
Being able to see the written words while hearing the stories will inspire and excite the students and spark a love of reading.
Having multiple stations will allow the kids to enjoy the books with their friends during independent center time. The listening center will be the heart of our independent workstations and will be sure to be a huge favorite!
