My Students

I teach Gifted and Talented enrichment classes for four different schools, in the grades Kindergarten through Fifth.

Some of my students are non-English speakers, but their love for learning is apparent.

My classes consist of diverse learners from various socioeconomic statuses. Some of my students are from low-performing schools and are very excited about their enrichment class, where we can do hands-on activities in addition to the monotone intervention and repetition that usually takes place. This is usually the only time where they are asked to be creative and develop their talents.

My students do not always come from homes where they are told that their future is bright and they can become anything they choose. It is my mission to educate them about all the possibilities that await them and to nurture their talents.

My Project

Financial Literacy is more important than ever. I want my students to understand how money works in the world.

My students will learn about Financial Literacy by providing authentic learning experiences where they will use the books: Money Sense for Kids and What Can You Do With Money to launch this project. The two board games: "Life " and "Money Bags" will be a fun and educational way to develop skills and knowledge that allows them to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources.

The students will then choose a business they would like to run and be given a budget to run this business. The students will research what it takes to start a business and develop their own business plans, select a location for their business, create a prototype of their product. They will use the play check set to write checks to cover the cost of their business such as employees, rent, utilities etc.

By donating to this project you will help me create authentic learning experiences where my students can experience the importance of Financial Literacy.
