Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you help me? My Kindergarten students need hands on materials to help them learn their ABCs.
My students are amazing children who are ages five and six.
They have come to kindergarten with very little knowledge of letters. Many of them can not even sing the ABC song, let alone write their own name. They have not gone to preschool and though eager to learn they are at an immediate disadvantage.
My Project
These alphabet activities from Lakeshore will help promote the learning of letters. Research has stated that rapid naming of letters is an indicator of later reading success. With these materials students will be able to complete magnetic letter sorts, learn letter formation, and identify beginning sounds. Students will lessen the gap and have a better chance of becoming a fluent reader.
By giving to this project you will be helping students who are already considered at-risk in kindergarten.
You will be providing them with hands on materials that will help them be able to be confident when they say "Now I know my ABCs".
