My Students

We are an all-boy charter school. Although not by design, our school services a predominately African-American population. The focus of our school is on literacy and wellness, to prepare our boys for the rapidly-changing world.

We empower our boys to raise the bar to become young men of intellect, integrity and compassion.

Our boys travel from various parts of our county to be educated here. We are currently a kindergarten through fifth grade school, adding sixth grade next year.

My Project

At our school, part of each day is dedicated to blended learning. Our students use ST Math and Dreambox for Mathematics; Lexia for Reading; USA TestPrep, Studies Weekly, and other programs on a daily/weekly basis. Each student has an assigned computer they use for all programs; we plan to assign a pair of headphones to each student.

While they enjoy using these computer programs, their only complaint is that they lose focus when they hear their classmate's lessons due to lack of headphones.

Most of the computer based programs used at our school talk to the students, or sound off to acknowledge the correct or incorrect answer.

We want them to stay focused and engaged. Having headphones for each student will satisfy that need and will promote more successful opportunities.
