My students need headphones for individualized math instruction.
Headphones will allow students to view instructional videos, listen to math problems read aloud to them, and, when necessary, listen to math vocabulary and concepts translated into Spanish.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a 6th grade math teacher, finding new ways to motivate my students can be challenging. Students enjoy using technology to review skills based on the Common Core State Standards. One of my goals this year is to have my students become more math proficient through concrete activities with everyday skills.
My school is in an urban setting where a large number of students have diverse needs.
Because of this, I find that grabbing their interest and meeting their individual needs is best done through hands-on learning and technology. Students look forward to any opportunity to practice math online. Often, the websites provide audio assistance, as well as Spanish translation. The current math curriculum includes videos that provide additional explanations and demonstrations of the math concepts to students. Headphones would allow for more individualized instruction.
When my students are engaged they become more excited, inventive, and enthusiastic about the tasks at hand. Differentiated lessons allow my students to reach and surpass their academic goals.
My Project
My class recently received Chromebooks through a project funded by DonorsChoose. Now that my students have been given the technology, they require headphones so that they may access various audio-visual tools provided with the math curriculum.
English is a second language for many of my math students.
Our math curriculum provides digital lesson courseware such as visual learning animation, animated glossary, additional examples, online math games, and Virtual Nerd Video Tutorials. Headphones will provide my students with access to these audio-visual tools, allowing them to review math concepts at their own pace, without causing a distraction in the classroom.
