My Project

I love to incorporate novel studies into my language arts curriculum. Not only does Wonder tie-in superbly with language arts, it is a perfect book for social-emotional learning. This book teaches empathy, compassion, acceptance, and so much more. The protagonist in this novel is the same age as my 4th grade students, so they can really identify with Auggie. Many of my students struggle with communication, friendships, and courage in standing up for others and what's right. This extraordinary book serves as an example of how each and every one of them can develop these important characteristics.
