My Project

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it gives our brains the fuel they need to engage in complex problem solving and critical thinking. Yet many students come to class not having eaten. Students come visit me first thing in the morning because they need something to eat and they know that they can find it in our room.

My students are brilliant and hardworking, but they can't do their best learning if they are hungry.

Our community is in a food desert where many of our students and their families are low income and struggle to have access to enough food and healthy food options. I make it a priority to have healthy and plentiful snacks in our classroom so students can focus on what matters, their education, without the distraction of hunger pains or feeling low energy. Anyone is welcome to have a snack from our class, all they have to do is be brave enough to ask for what they need.

You can help nourish their knowledge for a full month or more! Not only would you be providing a child a healthy alternative, but also a chance to connect with others and proof that the educators in their building care about them as whole people.
