Our school district spans five rural communities in the Eastern delta region of Arkansas. The area is large, and many students must ride the bus for long periods of time just to get to school. They depend on the school for transportation, food programs, and exposure to all things educational. We are a diverse population brought together for the purpose of learning.
With such diverse economic and cultural backgrounds coming together, our district strives to meet each student where they are and equip them for learning and progressing to the next level.
My Project
My students love music creation and listening. As part of my classes, we use literature to teach listening skills. Literature can inspire these young minds to overcome obstacles, look beyond their present circumstances, and push forward to meet goals. These books specifically can help young readers sign through the words and identify them as they begin to read.
I want to create a library of great song tales, biographies and clever rhymes for my students to use within the classroom as they create their music.
Having these books will help extend the learning we have been doing in our class.
