This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help our students stay organized in the classroom! Supplies have been limited at our school site and our students need notebooks to write information in from each subject area. They previously have been unable to keep their subject notes organized. Loose papers were being used to keep notes.

For the new school year, I will be teaching about thirty-two, fifth grade students.

I have had the privilege of working with most of them when they were in third grade. They are hardworking, energetic students who are eager to learn. The students attend a Title one school in California.

My Project

I am requesting a set of notebooks for science, math, language, and writing. These notebooks will keep their information, that they were taught throughout each day, organized and together in one book so that can learn how to be more effective Notetakers and have information to refer to when needed. As the students move on to middle school and beyond, these organizational skills through notetaking will be a good learning tool for them to continue to do well.

Last school year I sacrificed and started each student(32) off with two notebooks.

I later asked the parents to provide their child with some notebooks. Unfortunately, only half of the class were able to continue the year with notebooks. Due to budget cuts and economy, I know it will be difficult for myself and the parents to start the students off this year with notebooks. However, I know this would be a great tool and benefit for the students to use in their classroom.
