This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Do you remember what it was like when you were in school? Do you remember what supplies you were required to have in class? The families in my classroom struggle to purchase most of the required materials needed for success in the classroom.
Next year will be my 12th year as an educator at my school.
I teach approximately 20 kindergarten students in an ICT classroom at a low-income school. My classroom is in desperate need of basic school supplies like composition notebooks for a successful school year
No school year is as important as kindergarten! This is the year that will shape a child's attitude about school and about learning. Making it the most positive and nurturing experience is a way to insure that these children will continue to love learning and strive to do their best in school. I have requested multiple types of notebook to use in different ways. They will use notebooks for writing workshop, weekly poetry and small groups reading and math. Notebooks allow students to take responsibility of their own items and keep their work organized.
My project is so important to me because kindergarten education has become heavily focused on teaching literacy and other academic skills, but without basic school supplies this task is very difficult.
