This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is asking for graph-ruled composition notebooks and glue sticks for my Geometry and Algebra I courses. These notebooks will be used to help students organize their thoughts and ideas as they problem solve through our course and the world around them.
Not only is math class a place to learn how to compute mathematics, but it is a great space for students to learn organizational skills and note-taking skills that they can carry with them for the rest of their life.
While students have definitely been using more technology in education the past few years, that does not negate the fact that with muscle memory, you internalize material better the more you write it out. I will be asking my students to continue to take notes and show their work mathematically in physical notebooks throughout the year, in addition to their online portfolio of work.
With this project, I can supply notebooks and glue sticks for every student in my classes to help build an interactive journal of notes, discoveries, formulas, and thoughts throughout our journey of exploring mathematics together.
