This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a public school, first grade classroom. I have thirty-two students who speak four different languages. Some of my students also have speech and fine motor challenges. Many of my students come from low-income housing. Regardless of their challenges, my students are a very resilient and inquisitive group of children who are always full of questions! They all have a zest for learning!
It is inspiring to see my students come to school everyday, not knowing the language or culture and bravely navigating their way through their learning experiences, striving towards their goal of independence.
It is truly a privilege to be a part of building a positive learning experience that they can carry with them through the years.
My Project
In order to set students up for success, they need to be given the proper tools to be successful. Notebooks are essential in a first grade classroom! They are used to practice letter formation, illustrating and writing words and sentences and even math practice.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' writing by putting them in the driving seat to their own success!
These primary notebooks meet students needs at all levels with half the page allowing for illustrations and the other half of the page consisting of large multicolor printed lines.
My first graders are at the beginning stages of their academic lives. They will use these materials to aide them in the process of becoming lifelong writers.
