This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My bilingual first-grade students are full of joy and are eager to learn. Our classroom is a place of daily growth, constant challenge, and discovery. My students will spend this year learning the foundations of reading, writing, and math in order to succeed in their lives. They are quickly becoming independent learners. They are taking the information they have learned and applying it to multiple activities that allow them to use their imaginations and their own high level of thinking skills. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

My Project

All of my students are new comers into the United States. Most of them are immigrants from Central America and they are experiencing the very first school year in their lives. Their families encounter many difficulties on a daily basis because they lack essential items such as food, clothing and personal hygiene necessities. Therefore, it is hard for them to provide their children with school supplies. If you choose to donate to our project, you will be helping my students with the basics so that they are able to do their work. My students will be using the composition notebooks to do their assignments in school and at home. They will be using the folders to take home notes and keep their work organized. Having these basic materials will allow the children to focus on the only thing that matters: their education.
