Notebook for Physics Sensors

I am currently teaching Chemistry, Physics and AP Physics in a public school. One of the challenges that I face as a science teacher is the lack of technology support in my classroom. I have to bring my own laptop computer everyday in the classroom so I can use it for experiments as well as presentation. The desktop that we have is an old model and does not support most of the sensors for our physics experiments.

I have two classes of Physics and one class of AP Physics. They are very diverse yet they are all highly motivated and would like to pursue college education. Most of my students in the AP Physics are keen in science and some of them would like to major in science or courses related to it. I believe that most of my students are aware of the importance of knowing science concepts and skills that will help them make crucial decision in the future.

The laptop computer will help me perform experiments that use sensors in data gathering. This will give my students an exposure to some of the simple device that most labs have access to. In particular for my AP Physics class, where it is expected for them to have an experience of working with these sensors. The laptop computer can also help with simulations and presentations during classroom discussion.

This project will definitely make a difference in the way my students are learning in the classroom. It will give them an experience and an exposure in doing experiments that involve sensors and computers which should be accessible to everyone. It will empower them to connect the 21st century technology to their classroom experience.
