This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Their daily lives are extremely challenging. They see a great deal of poverty and violence in their neighborhood. However, they have grit and determination. They are hardworking and tenacious. The potential they possess is overwhelming, yet they don't always see or even live up to their potential because of what goes on around them from day to day.
Just giving them the smallest chance to succeed shows them that someone cares.
It shows them that they can make a difference and it does not have to be a huge difference. They constantly surprise themselves when they are presented with resources and opportunity. Presenting them with something as simple as a nice notebook for note taking will help them succeed. It allows them to take responsibility for their learning and ownership and pride in their education.
My Project
The notebooks I am requesting for my students will be used daily. Being in a mathematics class the students constantly need something to refer to in order to help them be successful in the class and gain a more concrete understanding of the work that is being done. The way the notebook is setup and organized will help them to keep their notes nice and neat. The pockets built into the notebook will allow them to not lose cut out materials in between classes.
The donations to this project will help my students improve their organizational skills, their mathematical skills, and simple lifeskills.
By implementing these simple yet very organized and effective notebooks into the classroom, my students will be able to move to another level without even realizing it.
