Help me give my students manipulatives that they will be able to touch and use. Manipulatives such as the Magnetic Alphabet Maze and the Build the Letter Activity are going to be engaging for our younger students!
My students attend a district in a small town in East Texas. They all share a love and passion for learning! Our district strives hard to provide our students with as many learning opportunities as it can, but with over half of my students coming from a low socioeconomic background, the resources can be limited at times. My students enjoy and appreciate any and all learning opportunities they are given! My students come to me every day ready to learn, and I strive to motivate them in as many positive ways as I can!
My Project
I want my students to not only learn, but enjoy learning! I am always looking for ways to make learning more fun and engaging.
These station activities are hands-on and very engaging!
These are both literacy activities as well as math! As I teach whole group and small group, the Math Number Line is going to be great at catching their attention and we will be able to do many things with the number line instead of just count. My ultimate goal is to be able to differentiate for all of my students so I chose a variety of activities that hit many Kindergarten skills that all of my students will be able to use.
As we are learning to count, the number line is going to be a great hands-on visual. The students will be in charge of adding the next number as the whole class decides what number comes next and they can see as they are counting how the numbers look on a number line. When it comes to the alphabet, the build the letter and other activities are going to be great for giving students the opportunity to physically build the number as we introduce each letter and they start learning more about letters and the sounds they make. Before students are able to read, we cover each letter in depth and these resources are going to be great to allow each student to have activities that focus on making and working with each letter of the alphabet.
