This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every student learns in his or her own unique way. As teachers, we spend our days creating a variety of different methods to assure every student can been successful in our classroom. The use of visual and audio aids has become a staple in my music classroom and has helped my students grow.

My students come from a variety of different backgrounds and learning abilities.

I teach every student in the middle school, including special education and gifted and talented students. Due to the diverse population, I am constantly differentiating my curriculum to meet the needs of all my students. I have very motivated students, who are eager to learn and show a true interest in music. They thoroughly enjoy being able to experience music in a variety of ways. Technology has brought them to a Broadway Show, to watch the New York Philharmonic and has opened their eyes to the music around them.

My Project

I am requesting a new laptop to be used in my music classroom. Unfortunately, my own personal (7 year old) laptop no longer runs, and I am unable to utilize my SmartBoard or projector. My students rely on this technology and visual aid for reading music, following listening maps, watching videos, etc. Without a new laptop, my students will not be able to experience all that music really has to offer. They will be unable to watch a concert, see a musical, or listen to the classics. The laptop helps put all of these things in one place, which is accessible to all students.

All of my students deserve the very best music education possible.

Technology helps students of all learning abilities and is a crucial component of their daily lives. This laptop will help keep music alive in my general music classroom, and assure that every student can learn to love what music has to offer.
