This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are expected to come to the meeting spot 85% of the day. Unfortunately my students dislike coming to the uncomfortable hardwood floor. Large carpets are very expensive.
I teach kindergarten in a Title One school in New York.
Most of my students are from very low income houses. They are very excited about the chance that they have to learn English. For many of the students, school is the safest and securest environment they know. I try to keep the classroom as fun and inviting as possible.
My Project
Having a new meeting spot will encourage the students to want to come and sit on a new carpet and learn. If the children are comfortable and eager to come to the meeting spot, they will be excited to learn in a comfortable environment. A classroom should be fun, safe, exciting and comfortable to learn.
This may seem like just a carpet, but this carpet will be the inspiration for my students to come to the meeting spot and learn.
It is important to keep my classroom an inviting and fun environment to learn and grow.
