Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently have 25 six- and seven-year-old students in my classroom. I am teaching first graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and two ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Several of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.

My Project

We have Nooks in our classroom but we do not have enough chargers for them.

We need new chargers for our Nooks since several of our current ones are broken.

Since we have gotten our Nooks, several of them do not work and we are unable to charge them. The children are frustrated when the Nooks are not working.

We also need more paper for our writing center. We also need scrap paper for when we solve math problems.

Lastly, we need sharpeners for our small pencils. Our current sharpener will not sharpen our golf and short pencils. They tend to get stuck in our current sharpeners.
