Nook Accessories

My students need a Nook cover, 2 SD memory cards, and an extra battery for our NOOK.

My Students

Another teacher was fortunate enough to be funded for two Nooks. We are going to share them and I want to protect them with the cover. I also want to make certain we have enough space to store the books for both classes. We need the extra battery so both classes will be able to use the nooks daily.

My students are from an inner city area of Charlotte, North Carolina.

They have a strong desire to be successful but all of my class is socioeconomically disadvantaged and some of my students do not even speak English. I have a third grade class of children who don't have access to computers, laptops, ereaders, and other technology at home (their families struggle to provide food, shelter, and clothing). I want my students to be globally competitive and the only way to make them competitive is to teach them how to use technology. So, please support this project and provide my students with the accessories necessary for both classrooms to be able to successfully use the Nooks. Please support this project with your generous donations, so we can make the best use of the technology that we currently have for our students!

My Project

The Nooks hold hundreds of book. My students will learn how to use the "new card catalog" to access the book they want to read. They will experience the thrill of marking virtual pages and highlighting key points in the book without using pencils, pens, or highlighters. Many colleges are now requiring students to have ereaders and I feel that my students need to be introduced to this technology early so that they can learn to use it and feel confident. The books that are downloaded onto the nook are much cheaper than "traditional" paper books and last forever! So, I will be able to afford more books for my class and not have to worry about the books wearing out. With the additional battery, SD cards, and cover we won't have to worry about the nook being dropped, running out of storage space, or needing charged. So, please provide my class with these materials so that we can successfully share the nooks between grades.

My students all have potential to become the leaders of tomorrow; doctors, lawyers, engineers, or anything they desire.

America is falling behind because our children aren't globally competitive.
