Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classes consist of middle school students who are at various academic levels in a Title I school. We have a growing classroom library filled with novels and are in need of nonfiction books. An essential part of their success as young readers is finding books that are of high interest that will help them grow their knowledge of topics they are interested in.

My Project

These books will add to our print-rich classroom environment. With these books our classroom library will grow and add to the fiction themes students are already reading independently. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind and the content they are being taught. It will increase their knowledge of historical movements, social issues and heroes in science. Having access to these nonfiction texts will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time and build to what they are learning in their history and science class as well.
