This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My bilingual fourth-grade classroom is comprised of energetic, eager, and hardworking readers ready to discover what newspapers and magazines are! My fourth-grade students are excited to see how news or information was learned in what they call "back then" time. My students are in need of Spanish and English nonfiction magazines and mentor texts as well. We will use articles and magazines such as Time for kids, and National Geographic en Espanol for kids: Los Animales Mas Mortales. Reading and actually visualizing these items will help the students identify what a table of contents is and how it looks, as well as identifying the main topic of the article, and text features.
