This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you want to go on an adventure and learn about the world? We will go all over the world, to the moon, swim with sharks and so much more! How will we do this? By reading lots and lots of books. This is what I say to my students to get them excited about our new non fiction unit.
My first grade students love to read and learn.
They are young and very inquisitive. They love to browse books and get so excited when they are learning about things that interest them. Most of my students come from low income households. Many of them live in shelters. They have rough home lives but they love to come to school and learn.
My Project
When we begin our nonfiction reading and writing unit, my students get so excited. They love to read about animals and places. The problem is that I don't have enough nonfiction books on their levels that they can read on their own. With the nonfiction leveled library I am requesting, my students will be able to read books and gather information so that they can in turn write their own information book on a variety of topics.
With your donation, our classroom library will be filled with a variety of books on various levels that my students can benefit from.
No matter the reading level, we will have books to meet the needs of all the students in the class. My students will be able to learn on their level and become so much smarter. Please help us get the books we need!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
