it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Building a true love of reading is the first step in creating strong, lifelong readers. In 2nd grade kids are typically still 'learning to read', and by 3rd grade they're 'reading to learn'. However, by putting nonfiction books into little hands, we can ensure that students are well on the path to building reading skills AND gaining knowledge from books.
This collection of beautiful and engaging picture books are actually nonfiction, and filled with facts that range from dogs to vegetables, from trees to the ocean.
I can't wait to create a nonfiction bin of these incredible texts for students to build their facts, increase their awareness of the world around us, and to strengthen their reading skills.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
