My Students

The more that you READ, the more things you will KNOW. The more that you LEARN, the more places you'll GO. -Dr. Seuss. This quote is so meaningful in its simplicity. For me it means my kids can go anywhere their dreams take them as long as I do my duty of inspiring the enjoyment of reading.

We are a Title I school where over 72% of our students receive free or reduced rate lunch and 46% of our students are language learners.

My kids come into our classroom every morning with BIG smiles on their faces and an eagerness to learn. Some are below grade level while others truly enjoy reading and always have a book in their hands. They all deserve resources that will feed their interests.

My Project

I am requesting books which I will add into our growing leveled library. The books I am requesting will allow my students to select books at their independent reading level and of their own personal interest. Imagine going to a bookstore and being told what book to read. Imagine it looking like a foreign language to you. That is not fun!!! My kids need books at their level and interest because giving them the power to choose gives them a chance to truly enjoy reading and learning. This is truly personalization and differentiation. These books will give my kids a wider selection of choices to choose from and will mean a more enjoyable learning experience for them.

They will open their eyes to all the possibilities out there.

Their enjoyment of reading will carry them far in their lives as they can become independent learners with limitless possibilities. My kids will have the world in the palm of their hands once they become successful readers.
