Nonfiction Books for Buddy Reading

Help me give my students a variety of nonfiction books that excite them, such as books about the body, space, and biographies! They will read these during centers with partners and small groups!

My Students

I teach 56 energetic, sweet, happy first graders in a Dual Immersion program. These students spend half of their day in my class (the English side) and the other half of the day in the Spanish classroom. I truly believe that when students love coming to school in the early years, it will leave a lasting impact on the rest of their education.

My first graders love to learn and light up when they have the opportunity to choose how they will accomplish their work.

I love to give them choice as frequently as possible with centers, writing, reading, science experiments, art projects, etc. They are inquisitive and want to be in charge of their own learning.

My Project

My students LOVE reading informational books, because they love learning about the world around them! These books will help my students have fun and exciting books to read during our "read to someone" center every day. This will give them more options of books to read and discuss in partners. It also provides us with the opportunity to have them work in a small group if they would rather do that!

These books will help my students master the nonfiction reading common core standards, but by studying topics of their choice!

They will also gain a deeper knowledge of the solar system, the human body, and amazing leaders from history!
