My students need markers and non-fiction reading materials such as a Readers' Theater Script Box and biography comprehension cards to allow them to become more well-rounded in their reading skills.

My Students
It can be a challenge "hooking" students on the joys of reading. Reading about real-life people, places, and events can provide students with an open door to learning made fun.
My school is predominantly low income families that may be lacking resources at home that will allow students to create personal experiences that they can use to make connections with their reading.
These non fiction resources I am requesting are vital to allowing my students to create or improve those skills that make successful and engaged readers.
My Project
I have requested biography comprehension cards pertaining to Presidents, Explorers and Early Americans. I have also requested high-interest nonfiction text sets pertaining to weather, animals, plants, inventions and space.
I also requested markers and a Readers Theater script box. These resources allow students to demonstrate comprehension by answering questions and making connections to their everyday lives. Students enjoy using these types of materials in centers to improve their language arts skills.
Without your support, my students will miss out on opportunities to grow as students, generate questioning skills and learn "outside" the classroom about people, places, and events that they may be unfamiliar with.
