My Project
We are teaching the "Non-European History of Mathematics" to students as an elective. I suggest students buy this textbook but many of them cannot buy it so having extra copies is essential. In this class we learn about mathematics from 8000 BCE through the 1800s and discuss where credit is given, how early cultures developed and used mathematics and how history gets made. We also focus on how different mathematical systems work. For example we work in base 60 using Babylonian methods and learn about rod numerals in China, etc. The colored chalk helps with students sharing work and describing their mathematics and responses clearly.
