This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students with autism are attending school for the first time in a newly opened Flexroom! The students I teach have unique characteristics and experience the world in a way most will never understand. My students benefit from different types of sensory support and need to use these supports many times throughout the school day. One sensory support all of my students need, on a daily basis, is noise-canceling headphones.
Noise-canceling headphones are a valuable tool for Neuro-diverse students, helping them to block out overwhelming noise and sensory stimuli.
They can also provide a sense of calm and focus, and in some cases may help them communicate better with others. For children with auditory sensitivities, noise-canceling headphones enable them to participate in potentially loud environments without being overstimulated by the sounds around them. By having enough noise-canceling headphones for each student in my classroom, I have a way to make sure that I can help my students not become too overwhelmed and continue the positive learning environment that I have worked hard to create.
