My Students
My students have learned to read and now they are reading to learn! In our classroom we would like to have a variety of engaging, new books with colorful graphs, maps, and photos to make nonfiction accessible for all readers.
My students represent a spectrum of economic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, and they attend an International Baccalaureate school in a vibrant, urban neighborhood.
Our school supports and challenges each student to reach his or her potential as a scholar and as a citizen of the world.
My Project
Fourth graders chew through books of all kinds and there is nothing like a nice, clean set of new books to start the school year. Research tells us that in order to become career and college ready, our fourth graders must be able fluently to read and understand complicated nonfiction texts. This set of books about fascinating science and history topics will be available to my students at all times for their independent and group reading projects.
Students gain confidence by reading books at their individual level.
Colorful, up-to-date texts about science and history, such as these leveled books, will engage my students and encourage them to become better readers of important, nonfiction texts.
