Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Everything I need to know, I learned in kindergarten-- be respectful, clean up your messes, share, take turns, and always do your best.
My kids are full of life and energy.
I have a classroom full of five and six year olds who are excited to be at school and learn. They are vibrant and love to play. Teaching kindergarten requires a lot of flexibility and creativity. I am always looking for new ways to improve as a teacher and help kids be the best they can be.
My Project
This year in my kindergarten class I have done away with my tables, desks and chairs. My kids spend a lot of time on our red meeting carpet. I have two tables set up for small groups for my assistant and myself. Another rug in the classroom would give my kids more space to work. Not having desks in my class has significantly increased student participation and built a strong sense of community in my room. I love it and my kids do too!
Having another rug in the reading area in the classroom will give my kids a space to enjoy their books right there.
Reading is essential and many of my kids love to do it. I want to use this rug in the reading area so that they have their own special space.
