My students need tablets with keyboards and headphones for the classroom. Due to us being relocated from Hurricane Harvey, my students do not regularly visit a computer lab.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low economic area of our school district. Most of my students are part of the free or reduced price lunch program. I am asking for donations to help build up the morale of our classroom.
We have been displaced because of Hurricane Harvey and moved into another building that is more equipped for high school students.
Since we all spend 80% of our day at school, I would love to make this classroom more comfortable for all of us.
My Project
Technology had been a vital part of our everyday life. Unfortunately, my students are not able to learn the skills needed, like typing letters, reports, or making a PowerPoint.
We are requesting laptop tablets with Windows 10 for our classroom so that we can get some of their state required technology time and skills completed in the classroom.
In 5th grade Science, we will use the tablets and headphones to promote individualized learning at their own pace. With these tablets, we can use Science software and complete our daily work. We are also requesting a bluetooth speaker so that we can have classical music playing in the classroom to help stimulate our learning environment. We also need things like hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and Kleenex to help fight the germs that come with the cold & flu season. Many students cannot afford the latest and greatest, so by supplying them with a laptop to use in class, I can normalize their day. This is an effective way to enhance their technology skills to be productive citizens in our community.
