My students need 26 cases to protect their new Fire tablets! We are also 3 tablets shy of 1:1 and have included those in this project request.

My Students
These second graders show their enthusiasm for learning: They come to school with a smile on their face! They get excited about books! They love getting their hands dirty during science! Never mind the long, dark winters and poverty - they love to learn. Let's give them modern tools for learning!
In our classroom, students build things during art, genius hour, and science class.
They practice critical thinking skills during literature circles and Lego Robotics on Friday afternoons. They learn about their community through place-based social studies activities, practice math skills through games, and learn to read using a plethora of literature and non-fiction resources.
Students care for each other and are proud of their classroom and school! That love extends for our community. Their town is small, rural, and Alaskan located on a Bay that connects to the Gulf of Alaska. It's surrounded by mountains, spruce trees, and wildlife that most American kids never see regularly. We see eagles, brown and black bears, and moose from the playground. Families hunt for food, not sport, and many are fishermen for a living. Poverty is high, but we are happy people. We've got a lot going for us, and this healthy, rugged living produces strong, inquisitive children thirsty for more learning.
My Project
Simply put, we are very lucky to have received 18 new Amazon Fire tablets for our classroom through Donors Choose in November 2015, and we almost have enough for a 1:1 program. We're just three tablets shy of making that happen, and so first, let’s complete the set and get my whole class online!
Secondly, I'd like to prolong the life and usefulness of these wonderful gifts by enclosing each one in a protective case. Amazon provides bouncy, easy-grip, kid-friendly cases for these tablets, and I know we need them for those inevitable “oops” moments when a tablet takes a fall from a second grader’s little hands.
Tablets in the classroom are wonderful tools for enhancing education and student engagement, allowing students to collaborate online and access class documents in the cloud, and bringing rural students into the forefront of learning. Let’s protect this investment for my students!
Better classrooms are blended with technology such as tablets, which have so many apps that engage students in reading, writing, mathematics, science, art, and communicating.
These tools are a must-have for any American classroom today, and used correctly, they don’t replace hands-on, face-to-face learning, they enhance it! My students cherish being surrounded with such learning opportunities, yet we know a little protection goes a long way in preserving those opportunities.
