My Project
My students attend a Title I school in a rural setting. My students are unique because a large number of them come from a Gullah/Geechee background, which is specific to the Lowcountry regions of SC and Georgia. Gentrification is changing the area rapidly.
School counselors are key players in schools because we help students learn to make good choices.
Learning math and English is truly important, but we also have to help our students become successful people overall. We help our students develop social skills, self worth and soft skills. Moreover we help our students stay on track to be able to learn and potentially gain a post secondary skill in order to become happy and kind contributing members of society.
