This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is busy, structured, and full of absolute joy. My students have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. They are in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, and are from multiple cultural backgrounds. Beyond my 9 special education students I also serve 12 students in regular education in 4th, 5th and 6th grade through our school wide digital photography club.

My students' disabilities include Autism, Down's syndrome, intellectual disabilities and other chromosomal disabilities.

Our school, is a regular public school serving a diverse group of students from preschool through sixth grade.

Our school has two special education preschool programs, one primary (Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade) special education classroom/program, and my special education intermediate (4th, 5th, and 6th grade) classroom/program. Beyond intellectual disabilities, many of my students also have physical limitations, hearing limitations, vision impairments, seizure disorders, and other medical issues.

My Project

Thanks to Donor's Choose we have good computers and tablets in our classroom. However, we are in desperate need of a wireless projector and an HD TV with Chromecast. Our classroom projector cart is big, full of wires, and it takes a great deal of much needed space and safe access to many areas in our classroom.

Our classroom afternoon group activities consists of computer projection reading lessons (both sight and phonetic reading), science observations, music, and cultural enrichment.

Having a wireless projection system with a Chrome Cast HD TV would solve all our group electronic learning needs and would bring a great deal of flexibility and safety to our space, and a much needed upgrade in our video/projection lesson learning experience!
