Help me give my students new classroom computers! Every day, it is a constant struggle to keep our lessons flowing smoothly without running into trouble with our technology.
Our class is a group of diverse learners from various backgrounds. When we teach them, we think of them as whole people and work our best to meet all of their social-emotional, behavioral, communicative, and academic needs.
My students are part of an inclusive community.
This means that within each classroom there are students who are working below, at, and above grade level, as well as students who have mild to moderate disabilities and a variety of sensory needs. All students are included in the classroom community all day and are not pulled out to receive services.
My Project
In this day and age, we rely on technology to support our students' learning. Our classroom computers are used constantly for students to work on both literacy and math skills. We use programs like Moby Max, Read Live, Encyclopedia Brittanica, and Keyboarding Without Tears almost daily! Unfortunately, our desktop computers have a hard time keeping up. Oftentimes, we have to restart computers or wait extended amounts of time for programs to load. The same goes for our main desktop computer that connects to the one board we use for teacher-directed lessons. We are constantly chanting, "Come on. Come on. You can do it." as the programs/web pages load. I am requesting a new desktop computer and four Chromebooks.
It's troubling to see students forced to waste time in the classroom when they could be learning!
We need technology that can keep up with us and act as a support within the classroom, rather than a nuisance. Our students deserve to use their time efficiently and effectively to make the most of their school day. We would deeply appreciate any help you could provide.
